With the fine weather beginning to make an appearance, now is the time to ensure that your pet is ready for the spring and summer months.

Parasite Prevention - We recommend that you keep your pet on year-round flea and worm preventatives. We all know that our pets can pick up a variety of parasites such as fleas, lice, roundworm and lungworm, particularly when the weather is fine. The only way to prevent this is by treating your pet regularly with a veterinary prescribed product. We can recommend a plan designed specifically for your pet, to suit their lifestyle.

Microchip - More outdoor time equals greater risk of a lost pet. Microchipping is the best way to reunite with your pet should they go missing, so be safe and chip them. It will also be compulsory in the next couple of years. Microchipping is only €20 at PVH so make sure you avail of this offer.

Allergies - Seasonal plants can cause allergies. As new plants and flowers burst into life this spring, so too do the symptoms of hay fever. But humans aren’t the only ones who suffer. Blooming plants, grasses and flowers can trigger allergic reactions. Allergic reactions in dogs and cats can cause minor sniffling and sneezing as well as life-threatening anaphylactic shock. If you suspect your pet has a springtime allergy, please call us here at PVH.

Spring cleaning - Spring cleaning is a time-honored tradition in many households, but be sure to keep all cleaners and chemicals out of your pets’ way! Almost all commercially sold cleaning products contain chemicals that are harmful to pets. The key to using them safely is to read and follow label directions for proper use and storage.
