The practice's greatest asset is its staff,
which is made up of 8 full time vets and a team of dedicated nurses.
Anicare is a registered Veterinary Nurse Training Centre, and we
recognise the central role that a skilled team of nurses play in
running a busy small animal practice.
Michael Hatton
qualified from Dublin in 1983 and comes from a veterinary family, both
his father and grandfather were vets. Following a brief stint in large
animal practice in Gorey he spent several years abroad in small animal
practice in England and Hong Kong.
Returning to Dublin in 1991 he established the first of Anicare's
hospitals in Glasnevin and has been involved in the subsequent
expansion to Clontarf and Blanchardstown.
He is comitted to ensuring that your pet receives the highest possible
standard of veterinary care and that the strict criteria involved in
running a small animal hospital are met.
Outside of veterinary he spends his time with his family and is
involved in various comitteees in his local community. He has also been
involved in the organisation of a number of charity functions.
Tanis Turley
graduated from University College Dublin in 1987 and then spent a
number of years in Small Animal Practice in England before returning to
Ireland in 1991.
She joined Anicare Veterinary Group in 1995 and became a partner in
1997. She has been an active member in veterinary organisations and has
been a committee member of VICAS (Veterinary Ireland Companion Animal
Society).
In recent years she has completed courses in internal medicine and
diagnostic imaging with Syndey University’s Post-graduate Foundation in
Veterinary Science. In 2001 she won the prestigious Nationwide
Stronghold Veterinary Petcare award and has been highly recommended in
a number of subsequent years.
She is based mainly in our Clontarf hospital and whilst enjoying all
aspects of veterinary she has a particular interest in internal
medicine.
Fintan Browne
graduated from UCD in 1996. He spent a year working in a mixed practice
in Dublin and then moved to south Tipperary to a busy farm animal
practice for another year. He joined Anicare in 1998 and has since
developed the range of surgical procedures available in the practice.
Fintan is currently the vice-chairperson of VICAS (the Veterinary Ireland
Companion Animal Society).
Fintan now spends most of his time working in Blanchardstown Veterinary
Hospital.
Susan Barry joined the
practice in the Summer of 2003 and quickly became an invaluable member
of the team. She graduated from UCD then spent time working in a busy
small animal practice near London where she gained experience in modern
veterinary medicine. Susan set up the Palmerstown Veterinary Hospital
which opened in January 2008. She owns three lovely boxer dogs and six
hens.
Neil
O'Sullivan joined the practice in April 2008. After graduating from
University College Dublin in June 2004 he travelled to Wales where he
enjoyed a wide variety of farm, equine and small animal work. Despite
the hospitality of the Welsh the cold winters and near constant rain
made him long for new experiences further afield so he took a job in
the Cayman Islands. Neil spent 20 months working in George Town in a
small animal practice with a modest amount of wildlife work. As well as
dogs and cats his patients included parrots, seabirds, iguanas and the
occasional sea turtle. He once even had to attend to a salt water
crocodile! Despite the hospitality of the islanders the hot summers and
near constant sunshine made him long for home and he has been working
in our Clontarf branch ever since. His particular professional
interests mainly include surgery, especially orthopaedics. He is also
keen on literature, travel, language (he's a fluent gaelgeoir!) and
music.
Deborah
McGeown qualified from Bristol University in 1999 and worked in
mixed practice in Gloucestershire for 3 years before moving to the
London area and specialising in small animals. She is originally from
Armagh and has a dog called Mylo - a lively rescue cross breed.
Deborah has also worked abroad in Greece, Spain and Thailand
for animal charities and moved back from London to work with
Anicare in Dublin in the summer of 2008. Deborah has a GPCert in Small
Animal Surgery and is currently studying for the GPCert in Small Animal
Medicine. She enjoys travelling, running, music and dancing but not all
at the same time!
